Understanding the Google Adwords Process

Having a website is one thing but getting people to look and view your website is out of your control. If you are looking to market your website successfully and have large amounts of traffic on your site then learning how to use Google AdWords is one of the ways to go. Using Google AdWords is easy, but having some knowledge of how it works can be of a greater advantage.

Setting up a Google AdWords account is free, but it only starts costing you money once you begin to use it. You can start off with choosing your key words. Lets for example you are an engineering company specializing in industrial lubrication. The important factor is that you use key words, meaning a specific word that would summarize what you are selling. The example above illustrates that one of the key words you could use is lubrication or industrial.

Once we have determined our keywords we need to determine how much we are willing to pay for clicks for each keyword, then write our headline, set our budget and activate our campaign. To put it simply, every time someone clicks on your advert, you have to pay for it. Your advert will appear in the right hand column of your google search results page.If someone had to search for the word lubrication the advert for that specific product will then appear on the right hand corner.

WOW!!! This sounds fantastic, right? You could loose a lot of money from just having the wrong key word because people might just click on your site but realize it’s not the product they were looking for and then you loose money without gaining anything. You should make absolutely sure that the advert you have written targets the right audience.

So you may be asking yourself, what is in it for me? The whole idea surrounding Google AdWords is the potential to generate all your traffic to your site, into potential sales generated from your site. It is very important to know what your exact plans are before deciding on Google AdWords as a marketing tool for your website. You have to do extensive research in your product because having the wrong audience will make you website weaker and your ranking lower.

When writing your advert you need to target those users that are ready to make a purchase, you need to make it clear that you are selling something purely related to their keyword search, you might get fewer clicks but those few clicks that you do get are people ready to purchase what you are selling, thus increasing your chances of making money from your campaign.

Google AdWords has huge sales potential, but if you don’t have the required knowledge in order to make Google AdWords work for you, you could end up paying more than you are making. Marketing skills also play a vital role as these skills will help you make the most of your Google AdWords account.
