You have an extremely limited amount of time to grab the readers attention – a few seconds at most. If it doesn’t catch their attention, it is either passed over or deleted. For this reason, it is a good idea to offer a benefit to the reader that compels him to open the email. For instance, a person may dismiss a message with a subject line reading “Weight Loss Tips”, but open one with the subject “10 Weight Loss Tips That Can Help Your Shed Your Pounds.”

Also, you have to put some very interesting content right in the start of the mail. Why is this important? Some of the most widely used email clients, such as Microsoft Outlook, Yahoo! Mail, etc. have a “preview pane” that allows a reader to view just a narrow strip of an email message without actually opening it. In addition, you need your efforts to remain consistent throughout your email marketing campaigns. Be sure to send your emails consistently at the time stated to your recipients.

Let’s say for example, your email newsletter goes out on Wednesdays at 1 pm, stick to that. Your subscribers will be looking for your email to arrive on the normal day and at the normal time. It is your responsibility to assure this is respected. Your promptness is a sign of your attention to your business, and will dispose your readers to be more open to your offers. It also shows respect for your audience and professional on your part when you are consistent with your mailings.

People out there don’t consider spam the best thing and they will be quick to delete anything that looks like spam; you certainly don’t want that to happen to your mails. In order to do this, you need you email marketing to have honest subject lines and only necessary capitalization. Make sure your subject line relates to the free information you’re sending to your prospects or subscribers, and that the text has quality and is authentic.

Your email marketing campaign should create a deep sense of trust and bond the relationship further to establish your credibility. By being straightforward and honest you will not create any reason for your prospects to question your credibility. As you perform an email marketing campaign, value the privacy of your subscriber as much as possible, and don’t inundate them with emails. It’s vital that you keep any promises you make to prospects about not abusing their email address in any way.

Consider your marketing campaigns carefully and don’t try to con them. Remember to cut back on your mailings during holidays as people may already be overloaded with things to do. Therefore, when those occasions roll by, lower the frequency of your marketing emails, and anticipate the lower open rates.
